Thongcaster Road Solar Project

MainPower has applied for resource consent to construct a solar farm on a 10 hectare site at Thongcaster Road. It is estimated that the site will produce enough energy to power 1,250 local homes via MainPower’s distribution network.

MainPower looks forward to delivering another renewable energy project to assist the local community, reduce the reliance on fossil fuels and help New Zealand meet its carbon reduction goals.

There is no confirmed timeframe at this stage for the construction. However, MainPower has been encouraged by the support of the neighbours surrounding the proposed solar farm.
