MainPower’s new solar farm coming soon

We are pleased to share an update on progress at MainPower’s Thongcaster Road Solar Farm.

Construction is tracking well, with all materials now on site. All edge piling has been completed and with the majority of the total piling now done.

The next key milestone will be the “golden row”, which is expected to be achieved in the coming weeks. The golden row is a reference point of the total solar farm. Once this section is complete it acts as a master template and is then replicated across the whole site.

MainPower’s Project Director Duncan Thomason says that when the golden row is complete the remainder of the solar farm construction will be a very quick, clean and efficient process.

” Solar farm construction has come so far that it is now more akin to factory production and quality management”

The solar farm is being built to help meet growing electricity demand in North Canterbury and increase the amount of renewable energy available to the local network. Once operational, it will generate enough electricity to power around 1,200 homes.

Mr. Thomason would like to acknowledge all residents and business owners in the immediate area.

“Thank you for your patience and support. We will continue to keep you informed as work progresses”
