MainPower’s chief executive stepping down

MainPower Chief Executive Andy Lester announced this morning he has resigned from his position and will finish on 1 June 2025. He was appointed to the role in 2017.

MainPower Chair Tony King said Andy has successfully guided the organisation through major industry shifts.

“Andy’s made a big impact at MainPower, and we wish him all the best. His leadership has been crucial in steering our organisation through a period of challenge and change in the energy sector.”

Andy Lester said he is really proud of what’s been achieved at MainPower over the last seven and a half years.

“It’s been great to lead such a committed, dedicated team, and I’m happy to be leaving the company in a strong position. It’s a great time for me to move on and I’m looking forward to spending more time with my family.”

The MainPower Board will shortly begin a thorough recruitment process for a replacement CEO. In the interim, Chief Assets and Operations Officer Damien Whiffen will be Acting Chief Executive.

“We are confident we will attract an experienced and passionate candidate to this role. MainPower retains a strong industry position and there are rich opportunities ahead for the energy sector,” Chair Tony King said.
