MainPower values its relationship with the community. MainPower has been providing electricity services into the region for over eighty years. These services are a major contributor to the well being of the region and impact on the daily lives of residents and the success of business.
MainPower’s greatest contribution to the community is through its rebate programme. If you are a Qualifying Customer you will receive a share of company profits in the form of a rebate on your monthly electricity bill, which you receive from their electricity retailer. The last five years have seen in excess of $34 million returned to the community in qualifying customer rebates.
MainPower’s commitment to its community is also displayed through a number of programmes and activities which we promote and support. Our community sponsorship and scholarship support is focussed on energy efficiency, energy education, economic development across the region, environmental sustainability and supporting youth.
Management and the Board of Directors have agreed these areas of support are important for the sustainability of the North Canterbury and Kaikoura region.
MainPower’s involvement in these programmes is as a sponsor and supporter, and neither company staff nor directors have involvement in the judging of submissions for any of the award programmes MainPower supports.
Over the years MainPower has supported projects and activities that have enabled the community to respond to opportunities in heritage, arts and community development.
