Community Consultation

MainPower has undertaken extensive consultation around the proposed Mt Cass Wind Farm.  We have consulted with neighbours living near the wind farm site, members of the broader community, local iwi, business owners, the Department of Conservation, Forest and Bird, District and Regional Councillors, and local Members of Parliament.

Our approach to consultation has been to:

• Consult early before finalising the details of the proposal, providing us with the greatest flexibility to make changes to address issues raised
• Be clear about what we want to achieve
• Keep an open mind to the responses made, being willing to change
• Actively participate in a two-way process of sharing information and views
• Recognise that consultation does not mean agreement although we will make a genuine effort to resolve the issues raised.

Consultation activities have included:

• Meetings with local business and resident groups and individuals or families
• Information newsletters
• Open days at the Waipara Hall
• Information displays at regional libraries
• Stalls at the Waipara Vintage Festival and Amberley A&P Show
