MainPower Primary Coaching Programme

MainPower sponsors the North Canterbury Sport & Recreation Trust's primary school's sport coaching programme which is delivered into primary schools across the Waimakariri and Hurunui Districts.

The programme currently has two coaches who deliver active skills and coordination in over 16 sports to Year 4 through Year 8 children. The programme commenced formally in 2009. From the initial trial of the programme in 2008 many young children joined formal sports clubs to further their skills in the sports they enjoyed.

The Coaches assist the teachers develop their skills to enable them to continue the programme on after the coaches move on to other schools.
