Warm Homes Programme

Since 2004 MainPower has been offering support to home insulation initiatives in the region. It ran the Warm Homes Makeover project, Warm up Kaikoura and sponsored the Warm Families programme. Together these programmes have assisted well over 1,000 households make their homes warmer, drier and healthier to live in.

In 2009 the Government introduced insulation subsidies to all income groups through its Warm up New Zealand Heat Smart programme.

MainPower continues to offer support in this area by sponsoring Community Energy Action, a charitable trust which offers these subsidies to all incomes with a further top-up subsidy to low income households, including rentals where the tenant has a community services card.
