The Electricity Supply Industry has a number of career paths. The industry is seen as an essential service to the prosperity of New Zealand ensuring that the country maintains an electricity network system that can sustain the economic growth of New Zealand. Participants in the industry range from electrical engineers, design managers, CAD operators, project managers, technicians, line mechanics, electrical fitters, cable jointers and electricians all serving the industry.
MainPower Contracting over the last five years have employed on average 2-3 new trainees each year as part of the company’s commitment to the Electricity Supply Industry and to bridge the skills gap shortage affecting the industry. With an aging workforce and the loss of staff to other industries, ongoing training and development into trainees is essential to ongoing commitment of MainPower Contracting to the North Canterbury and Kaikoura regions.
