Recent severe weather events in the North Canterbury region
serve as timely reminders of the danger of fallen power
Kaikoura reidents are being asked to reduce their use of
electricity while maintenance work is being completed in the
area this week.
Earlier this month a team of keen MainPower employees
volunteered to install 80 solar panels at the Boyle River
Outdoor Education Centre, near the Lewis Pass.
A charging station for electric vehicles is now available
for public use at MainPower's head office, free of charge.

The winner of the 2015 MainPower Workplace Safety Innovation
Award was Steve Monk, MainPower Plant Operator. Steve’s
winning idea was a frame that secures cable drums when they
are being transported on forklifts.
Secondary school students from the North Canterbury and
Kaikoura region participated in the November EVolocity event
at the Mike Pero Motorsport Park, thanks to sponsorship from
Katelyn Inch (Lawn Bowls) was named top MainPower Youth
Sports Scholar for 2015 at the North Canterbury Sports

The Mayor of Waimakariri, David Ayers, and MainPower Chief
Executive Bruce Emson, officially opened the Burnt Hill
Substation at a ceremony held on site on Wednesday 14

of the Electricity Networks Association after being voted in
by members at the annual meeting, earlier this month.
