Following public vote, four community groups have been rewarded for their hard work and dedication as recipients of the 2016 MainPower Community Fund.
The MainPower Community Fund, now in its second year, is a contestable fund open to public vote with the local community having the power to decide which community and neighbourhood groups in the North Canterbury and Kaikoura region they think need a share of $20,000.
“Over the last two years $30,000 has gone back into the community to support those groups that our community thinks need it the most. We’ve had a great response with close to 2,500 votes made this year alone – it’s a fantastic opportunity for the region to celebrate the efforts of schools, charitable and cultural organisations who do such a great job with very little,” said MainPower Chief Executive Bruce Emson.
