MainPower established the Electrical Engineering Scholarship in 2003, to support undergraduate students pursuing courses in Electrical Power Engineering.

One scholarship is available annually at the University of Canterbury for students who are entering their second or third professional year of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (BE (Hons.)) degree programme in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents.

The value of the scholarship is $5,000 for a period of one year. Applications open in February and should be submitted to the Scholarships Office at the University of Canterbury by 31 March.
