Network Services Representatives
We are looking for two Network Services Representatives to help the team provide excellent customer service and expert advice about our electrical distribution network. You will take a primary role in assessing and determining customer requirements and in supporting service delivery to the customer.

Network Services Team Leader
We are also looking for an experienced Team Leader to head up our Network Services team, an essential part of our Network Operations department. You will have experience in leading, motivating and promoting a positive team environment, with excellent communication skills. This is
a functional team leader position that is responsible for managing the work of the team and overseeing the day-today network relationship with our customers.

The ideal candidates for both positions will have relevant electrical industry experience, preferably in a distribution network, and must have highly developed communication skills. You will be able to juggle multiple tasks, provide an outstanding customer experience, whilst ensuring
adherence to MainPower policy.

Utility Worker

The primary objectives of this position are to install underground electricity services, assist with the excavation and reinstatement of trenches, and the transportation and storage of underground services materials.

Network Controller

We are looking for a Controller to join our Network Operations team. This role is responsible for helping our team safely and effectively manage the daily power systems operation for our
Network.

Ideally you will have relevant industry experience, preferably in distribution network control, have a strong commitment to public and workplace safety, effective communication skills, attention to detail, and you must be available to participate in an after-hours duty roster. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring power system SCADA load management and radio communications.
  • Controlling contractor access to the MainPower New Zealand power system.
  • Communicating with and monitoring feld workers to help ensure their continued safety.
  • Managing planned and unplanned power systems interruptions, restoring power in an effective manner.
  • Providing good customer service, including direct communication, notifcations and timely responses.
  • Preparing operating orders and works orders.
  • Being an effective member of the Control Room team, including participating in the after-hours roster to ensure 24 hour coverage.
  • Assisting in identifying and mitigating quality of supply issues.
  • Managing safety isolations, High Load escorts and contractor Close Approach consents.
  • Controlling livening of newly commissioned or installed equipment.
  • Maintaining system records, including outage statistics, livening notices, operating orders and the operational log.
  • Planning outages to minimise downtime on the network and grouping similar work into logical packages.

Safety and Business Risk Manager

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive this senior role represents an excellent opportunity for an experienced health & safety leader to promote the drive for excellence in risk, environmental and safety practices, building the skill base and competence across the organisation. With solid foundations already in place and a highly supportive Board, significant progress has been achieved with the health and safety culture. As a key member of MainPower’s disaster recovery team and business continuity planning framework, this role is also responsible to facilitate the integration of risk management into the strategic and business planning process. 

 Successful candidates will have:

  • Held a senior role and have an expert understanding of H&S, environmental and wider business risk, preferably from within manufacturing/heavy industry/energy/high consequence environments.
  • Extensive experience developing/executing strategy, policy and frameworks for health and safety and risk, alongside the development of operational plans
    • Experience developing and maintaining an Integrated Management System (IMS)
    • Demonstrated success using a modern and sustainable approach to risk and health & safety, together with an ability to envisage and drive change
    • Exposure to quality and environmental leadership
  • Exposure to civil defence emergency management
  • A collaborative and practical approach with strong implementation skills and the ability to roll up your sleeves when needed
  • A successful background in the development of relationships with internal operational staff and external stakeholders
  • A strong focus on the leadership and development of your team
  • A good level of commercial/financial acumen and is market savvy
  • A relevant tertiary qualification is desirable but not essential.
